A Workington grappler has triumphed in a competition in Germany as he bids to make his comeback in mixed martial arts.

Daniel Park, of Ashfield, travelled to Germany to take part in the Lichtenfelser Fight Night as returns to fighting after a spell away.

Park, who trains out of the Tapout Knockout club in Workington, was helped in organising the trip by chief instructor Trevor Cunningham and Mike Tedham, who runs a show for Tapout Knockout.

He came out on top in his fight and coach Pat Carr, who travelled to the competition with Park, believes it is a good sign that he made the right decision to come back to fighting.

“It was quite short notice but he’s in good shape at the minute,” Carr said.

“This grappling competition came up and it was a good chance to see how he got on before he got back into the MMA.

“He dominated the fight from start to finish.

“I couldn’t be prouder of him and and his dedication.”
