Young badminton players from a Workington school have put their lessons into practise by winning an interschool competition.
The Year 10 BTEC sport class at St Joseph’s School have been learning about the sport in their practical lessons recently with the help of Ailsa Bell, the school’s head of PE.
After honing their skills, five pupils from the class – Jamie Hodgson, Reece McDonald, Jaden Taylor, Logan Bosward and Cain Pears – were chosen to represent the school in the Allerdale Schools Badminton Competition on December 6 and they did the school proud.
The quintet played fantastically well in a combination of singles and doubles games and at the end of the competition they had won 17 of their 20 games.
The strong run of results made St Joseph’s the top team in the Key Stage 4 competition and earned them victory.
The other schools which were selected to take part in the competition were Workington Academy, Nelson Thomlinson School at Wigton and Keswick School.
