Storm Dennis was the only winner in the weekend's fixtures when, due to the weather warnings issued, the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League decided to postpone all fixtures in the interests of safety and welfare.

The Cumberland Senior Cup quarter-final tie between Workington Athletic and Kirkoswald was also postponed for the same reason. This ensures that the league will have one team in the hat for this week’s semi-final draw.

The enforced mid-season break allows clubs to review their current form and trophy potential for the end of the season.

In the Premier Division, Workington Reds Juniors White will become champions if they are victorious in one of their last two games. Second place is hotly contested between last year’s champions Wigton Harriers, Gosforth and Cockermouth.

In Division One, Maryport Athletic lead the pack with Workington Athletic, Crown Newlaithes and Northbank hot on their heels.

A new initiative for the Divisional Cup has been introduced this season, with teams split into one of three sections which are based on their league position.

The aim is to try to ensure that the lower-placed teams will still be in contention to lift a trophy until the final weeks of the season.
