Workington Town star Alex Young is raring to get back into action after agreeing a new deal with the club to keep him at Derwent Park next season.

The former Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants youth prospect only joined Town at the start of the year, only playing with the side a few times before the coronavirus pandemic put an early end to the competition.

But he says he is ready to keep improving as they go for a tilt at League 1 in 2021.

Young said: "I thoroughly enjoyed pre-season and what we had of my first season at the club and that I like the direction the club is heading and our aspirations.

"I’m looking forward to contributing to next year and continually improving under Chris and the coaching staff."

And coach Chris Thorman is delighted to keep the ex-England Youth winger in the ranks.

"Alex showed in his short time with us what a valuable asset he can be," said Thorman. "He has his hunger back for the game and has a real desire to achieve success.

"He has all the attributes to be one of the league’s best outside backs and I’m looking forward to seeing what the team and Alex can achieve in 2021 and beyond."
