Abbie Scott says England still have "plenty to improve on" as they prepare for tomorrow's Women's Rugby Union World Cup Semi-Final.

Scott, from Keswick, helped to ensure the Red Roses finished on top of Pool B after wins over Spain, Italy and the USA.

Reigning champions England will play France in their semi-final tomorrow evening, after New Zealand play USA in the other last-four tie.

England looked set for a comfortable win over their American counterparts on Thursday, although some late tries from the Eagles ensured they took a try bonus point from the game.

And England are likely to be tested again when they play France in their last-four clash.

"We’ve got plenty to improve on and work on from the game and we can go away and have a look at, then it is about what we can put right going forward," said Darlington Mowden Park Sharks forward Scott.

"For us, it has been about building as you never want to go in at the top.

"It’s about what we can put right every game and having bits to work on.

"Like Midds [England coach Simon Middleton] has said, it is a marathon not a sprint, so it is one game to the next, which is a bit cliché, but it is like that for a reason.

"Every game has been a test in its own right and has been challenging, it has been quite good for us that we’ve played against different styles of game so that has prepared us really well."

Ten tries were scored by England in their wins against both Spain and Italy. But driving mauls proved to be more fruitful in the Red Roses' success over USA in their final pool game.

One of former Keswick School pupil Scott's team-mates, centre Amber Reed, added on the England Rugby website: "We’ve got one of the best line-out drives in the game, so the big girls up front are doing their stuff and they’re making it look easy.

"We’ll keep giving them the ball all day long if they keep scoring those tries."
