Maryport's up and coming England rugby union star Catherine O'Donnell is set to represent the under-20 side tomorrow against France.

O'Donnell is named in a match day squad of 23 to take on France at Esher RFC by coach Jo Yapp, with several regulars all returning.

The psychology student at the University of Liverpool, is fast making a name for herself in the England set-up.

“We have a strong squad of 23 players who will all have an impact on the game," said Yapp. "The returning five all add experience to the team, having played for us last season against France.

“It was great to get the win under our belt two weeks ago against the Army but that was as much about the performance as the fact we won, as I was impressed by the way the girls performed that day.”

England will be looking to improve on last season’s two clashes against France U20, having lost away 25-0 before a 10-5 loss at home last March.

O'Donnell began her career playing rugby league before switching to union when she went to Keswick School and then began playing club rugby union for Keswick RUFC.
