A CHARITY event held in memory of a former Maryport Amateur Rugby League Club player will take place next month.

CrozFest will be held at the rugby club on Saturday August 11, featuring live bands and solo artists.

Sean Crozier died in 2015 at the age of 27 after being diagnosed with stomach cancer, and the Maryport man's family and friends have been holding fundraising events in his memory ever since.

All the proceeds from the festival will be split between The Sick Children’s Trust and Cancer Research.

Headlining will be Mad4It, who recently impressed at Cottfest.

The highly-rated Cumbrian tribute band's set spans the whole back catalogue of Oasis’ career, covering their early numbers from Definitely Maybe through to some of their later material.

The live show includes the biggest and best-known songs, including Some Might Say, Don't Look Back in Anger, Roll With It and Wonderwall, as well as some lesser-known tracks and fan favourites, such as Acquiesce and I Hope, I Think, I Know, also likely to feature.

Also on the bill will be Cockermouth-based Mojo Rising, who have played at many of the festivals around the region, performing rock and pop songs by the likes of The Courteeners, Franz Ferdinand, Two Door Cinema Club, Electric Six and many more.

Four-piece blues and rock 'n' roll outfit The Buyers Club return to the event having starred last year, and will be playing some well-known classic covers in their set.

Original reggae trio Reggie, and solo artist Jake McNicholas - who also fronts the Northern Threads - will also be performing live.

The first act is up at 2.30pm, and tickets priced £10 can be booked in advance from Maryport Amateur Rugby League Club, Alauna Salon, or can be booked by phoning Clint on 07731 530837.
