Marriage

HOOKER - LOWDON

James Anthony Hooker and Sarah Anne Lowdon.
BONNY Scotland was the setting for the wedding of Hexham couple James Anthony Hooker and Sarah Anne Lowdon.
For they tied the knot at Broughton House in Kirkcudbright, before enjoying a honeymoon in the town.
The bridegroom is the son of Valerie Mallinson and Ken Hooker, of Hexham. He formerly attended Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School and Newcastle University. He is a retained fireman and also works for Tesco.
The bride is the daughter of Katherine and Steve Lowdon, of Prudhoe. A former Prudhoe High School pupil and Newcastle College student, she now works for North Country Leisure.
Wearing a vintage style beaded and embroidered ivory dress with a floral and pearl headdress, the bride was given away by her father. Her bouquet was a hand tied mix of roses, thistles, and wild flowers.
The bride followed a family tradition by walking on a gold half sovereign, just as her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother had done before her.
Best man was Tim Gibson, the bridegroom’s best friend.
The bridegroom’s brother, Robert Hooker, was groomsman, while the bride’s brothers, Tom and Andy Lowdon, were witnesses.
During the ceremony music was provided by pianist Katharine Manning.
A champagne and canapes reception at Broughton House followed the ceremony prior to a meal and evening reception at Arden House Hotel, Kirkcudbright.
