Lindsey Dowell, 26, student and Paul Whitham, 32, maintenance manager at Innovia Films, live in Silloth

HOW THEY MET: At Sachas nightclub, Silloth in 2000 and got together as a couple in 2003.

PROPOSAL: While opening presents on Christmas Day 2008.

VENUE: Alion Beach Hotel, Ayia Napa, Cyprus.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A gold taffeta gown by Cosmobella with a pleated bodice and corset tie fastening, A line skirt with side split filled with layers of crushed organza and a frill of organza from the hem, from Champagne Brides, Workington.

GROOMSMEN: The groom’s brother Andrew Whitham was best man and the groom’s godson Byron Wilson was page boy. They wore beige suits with long jackets and ivory waistcoats from Edwards Menswear, Penrith.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sister Hollie Dowell was maid of honour and wore a long strapless chocolate brown dress from Champagne Brides, Workington and the bride’s niece Jasmine Irwin was flower girl and wore an ivory halterneck dress with brown roses.

FLOWERS: An ivory bouquet provided by the hotel in Cyprus.

RECEPTION: There were 57 family and friends who travelled to Cyprus for the wedding followed by a meal at the hotel.

An evening reception was held at the Golf Hotel, Silloth on their return from Cyprus for about 300 guests.

CAKE: A sponge cake provided by the hotel in Cyprus and a three-tier white cake with red roses bought by the bride’s nan Patricia Rowell for the celebration in Silloth.

FIRST DANCE: You and Me, Lifehouse.

ENTERTAINMENT: A disco at the Golf Hotel, Silloth.

HONEYMOON: Cyprus.
