Lindsey Sarah Robinson and Grant Ambrose

HOW THEY MET: Lindsey attended Grant’s classes at Living Well gym in 2008 and then on a night out in The Litten Tree in Carlisle they exchanged numbers and then started dating.

PROPOSAL: On Sunday August 31st 2008 after living together in their first home for a year grant brought Lindsey breakfast in bed which included bacon butties, champagne and a diamond platinum engagement ring. Grant got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

VENUE: St Michael’s Church, Carlisle. The bride’s parents Lesley and Philip Robinson were married at the church 36 years ago.

THEME: Amethyst and pink.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An Eddie K ivory strapless dress with fitted bodice to the hip, layered tulle to the floor, a full length veil and jewelled hair comb, from Country Dreams Bridal, Carlisle.

GROOMSMEN: Friend Peter Armstrong was best man. Ushers were the bride’s brother Simon Robinson and friends Ben Moore and Wayne Messenger.

The groom’s nephews Alex and Jake Scott were pageboys.

They wore Prince Edward slate grey suits and amethyst cravats from Greenwoods, Carlisle.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s best friends Joanne Goodfellow, Emma Rotherham and Paula Rae were bridesmaids and wore Dessy knee length chiffon dresses in amethyst with silver diamante sandals.

Flower girls were the groom’s niece Lucy Scott, the bride’s niece Hollie Robinson and the bride’s goddaughter Sophie Irving. They wore dresses with an ivory satin bodice and tulle skirt with amethyst bow, handmade by the groom’s mother Jean Ambrose.

FLOWERS: The bride carried a tear-drop bouquet of cream and pink roses from Bloomsberry, Carlisle.

TRANSPORT: A cream and burgundy open-top Beauford and a cream and burgundy Daimler from Higham’s Wedding Services, Hayton.

RECEPTION: The Greenhill Hotel, Wigton, for a drinks reception of rose prosecco and a chocolate fountain from Chocolate Eruptions followed by a hot buffet and sit down meal for 120 guests.

An evening reception for 130 guests.

TABLE SETTINGS: The top table was decorated with fish bowls filled with orchids, roses and sea holly interlinked with bear grass and tall Martini glasses filled with hydrangea heads, roses, bear grass and verbascsum on alternate table with large glass vases filled with water, lights and orchids, from Bloomsberry, Carlisle.

FAVOURS: Eden Valley Hospice lottery tickets.

CAKE: An ivory iced three-tier fruit and sponge cake with pink iced roses, made by the bride’s grandma Pam Robinson.

FIRST DANCE: Heaven, Bryan Adams, performed by Andy Whittaker and band Highly Strung, from Carlisle.

ENTERTAINMENT: Swing music performed by Andy Whittaker, music by band Highly Strung and disco by And Then Some, from Carlisle.

The ceiling above the dancefloor had hanging fairy lights.

HONEYMOON: San Francisco, Las Vegas and then Mexico.
