Netherhall School is ditching its fleece and polo shirt combination for a new uniform of claret and gold blazers, jersey, white shirt and ties.
The process has been completely led by the student council.
Lindsey Hewitt, 15, said: “The old uniforms are like bin bags.”
Liam Parker, 13, said the new uniform would be more “professional”.
Halle Burton, 14, said that when she was elected to the student council, “the first thing my friends asked me was to try and get the uniform changed”.
Headteacher David Tromans said the challenge was to get a good quality uniform that would not be too expensive for parents.
“The new uniform will include black trousers, as now, and skirts which will be optional for the girls.
“All can be sourced through a local business, West Lakes Embroidery.”
