Forecasters predict today will be the hottest day of the year so far in north Cumbria.
Following a hot sunny day yesterday (THURS) the spell is set to continue throughout today with temperatures expected to reach 26C.
"It's easily going to be your warmest day of the year so far," said a spokeswoman for the Met Office. "It should be a sparkling start to the day."
On Monday temperatures reached 21.5C, which was the highest temperature recorded for Carlisle in 2017.
Tomorrow will be dry, warm and bright to start with - but there is an "increasing threat" of thundery showers during the day.
"As we head towards the evening those should ease away and it will be fresher into Sunday," added the spokeswoman.
The pleasant weather will continue throughout the bank holiday weekend into Monday, though temperatures will drop to the high teens.
