A Border Collie will be put down after it bit a young child in a west Cumbrian town.
Mark Edward Scott, of Cumberland Street, told magistrates in Workington that he accepted the dog, called Max, was dangerously out of control when it attacked the child in Finkle Street last September.
He was fined £338 and ordered to pay £500 compensation plus £85 costs.
The court heard how the dog had been seized immediately by police in the town, and had been kept in kennels since the incident.
Scott did not oppose an order to destroy the dog.
