Two men kicked their way into a Workington house during a violent break-in, a court heard.
Peter John Joseph Lowrey, 24, and Colin Thompson, 37, were caught on CCTV as they entered a property in Fisher Street on May 21.
At Carlisle Crown Court, the pair appeared by video link from jail to admit a charge of burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.
Beccy McGregor, prosecuting, said: "They stayed in the house for around a minute before coming back outside."
The case was adjourned for sentencing until June 30 by Judge Peter Davies who warned: "You must expect custodial sentences."
Lowrey, of Winifred Street, Workington, was said have previous convictions for non-dwelling burglary on his criminal record.
Thompson, of Harcourt Street, was described as being "lightly convicted".
Both were remanded in custody.
