West Cumbria is gearing up to celebrate the Queen's birthday.

In Broughton Moor, the community has got behind an event organised by the school on Saturday, June 11. 

A family gala day will be held in the school grounds with entertainment from local artists, Rainbow Sky, Dave Lee and Scott. 

Local resident, Annie Winter, was judged the most patriotic lady in the village and will be Queen for the Day and officially open the event.

There will be bingo, raffles, stalls and games for the children.

The children have also been learning patriotic songs to perform  at the gala day, which will be held from 1pm to 4pm.

In Workington, the town council is helping to fund several events in and around the town to mark the occasion. 

A birthday tea will take place at Harrington Youth Club on Church Road on Thursday, June 9. 

It is being organised by Harrington's over-55s club. Another birthday tea event featuring party games will take place at the same venue on Sunday, June 12. 

A royal-themed garden party will take place at St Mary's Church on Salisbury Street, Workington on Sunday, June 12. 

The party will be for members of South Workington Youth Parternship and their parents, guardians and carers. A fancy dress competition for the best Queen and Prince Philip lookalike will also be held at the event. 

A royal-themed afternoon tea will happen at Banklands Hall in Workington on Sunday, June 12. It is being run by the Soup and Pud Club. 

People who are 90 years old are being invited as VIP guests.
