A Cockermouth church is launching a monthly Sunday lunch club for people who may otherwise be on their own.
Town residents are invited to join King's Church volunteers for a meal at Riversmeet Resource Centre, on Market Street, on the first Sunday of the month. It will cost £1.
Paul Mogford has been working with other church volunteers at the temporary Bridge Cafe, set up on Wakefield Road car park following the floods.
He said: "As we have looked around town and listened to people's needs, especially those at Bridge Cafe, we have become aware there is a lot of loneliness and people who have little social contact.
"On Sunday, a particular day when families get together, we feel the monthly lunches will be a great opportunity for people to get out of their homes and make new friends.
"The lunches are open to anyone in town who is facing Sunday lunch on their own."
The first lunch will be held at 1pm on Sunday, February 7.
Riversmeet can hold up to 35 people. To attend, email admin@kingscc.org
