Plans for a 33-bedroom extension at the Castle Inn, Bassenthwaite, have been given the go ahead.
The Lake District National Park Authority's development panel has granted permission for the development.
As well as the three-storey extension for bedrooms, the plan includes new landscaping and a wetland lake.
The hotel currently has 45 bedrooms.
A previous application for the extension was turned down by the national park authority because the design was thought to be out of keeping with the existing hotel buildings.
Since then hotel bosses have been in talks with the authority to overcome the concerns.
