Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a firework was put through a letterbox in Workington.
They particularly want to speak to a man who helped the victim, freeing their pet dog.
It happened at about 7.20am on October 10 in Mossbay Road, Workington.
But to date they have been unable to trace the culprit.
They are now asking the public for help.
Anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area that morning should call Cumbria Police on 101.
