CROWDS gathered in Maryport to observe the centenary of The First World War.
A procession began at Fleming Square, including soldiers, sea cadets and officials. They marched through Wood Street, cheered on by crowds of citizens.
The procession led to St. Mary's Church for a service by Reverend Susan Mckendrey. Mckendrey honoured the fallen of all conflicts, in particular The First World War.
Students of Netherhall School laid a poppy on a cross for every name of the 441 Maryport men who died in WWI.
A sombre and atmospheric wreath laying ceremony proceeded in the memorial gardens. Although there were volumous crowds, there was a hushed silence in the courtyard.
Maryport's parade was one of many events taking place in and around the area for Armistice. If the crowds in St. Mary's are anything to go by, Cumbria responded greatly to Armistice.
