Allonby is set to transform into a festive wonderland for one day only.
The 12 Days of Christmas tree festival brings community made decorations to Allonby's Christ. One of the event's organisers, Melanie Walker said "It looks very magical."
Community groups and children from the village decorate trees and displays themed on one of the days from the 12 Days of Christmas song. "There's a lot of decorated trees and other things displayed around church" said Melanie.
This year the school have created a collage representing the "Seven swans are swimming" line. Last week the Christmas trees were unveiled for the first time during the Christingle service. Allonby's festival will return on Sunday December 16 for another crack at fundraising and bringing joy to the village.
Christ Church's event is free of charge and "In the school room there'll be refreshments, tea, coffee and mince pies," said Melanie.
However, there will be collection boxes as it is a fundraising event which generated £1400.00 in 2017. Allonby's church benefits greatly from the vital donations, "we need to replace the main church doors", last Christmas' fund raising at the event generated the fees to make the much needed renovations. Melanie said: "It's fantastic that we were able to raise that money."
The 12 Days of Christmas tree festival will be re-opened on Sunday afternoon between two and four.
