Determined strength athlete Bethan Lishman is raising competition funds for the European Masters Athletics tournament.

Brigham's Bethan won a British title in London back in March, now she has a European title and a British masters record in her sights.

However, to be able to afford her competition fee, kit and travel expenses, she has set-up a Pledge Sport page.

She said: "I've actually just bought my kit with the money I've raised."

Although she is in need of financial support, Bethan has the motivation to go all the way.

"I've been absolutely nailing every session," she said, "This year I actually feel like I can really perform."

Bethan realises that she will need all of the competitive spirit she can muster: "I'm trying to break a 20 year old record."

It would seem she is up for the challenge though: "It would be nice to say this is my first year in a category and I've just smashed a record."

Bethan won a British title back in March but she still cultivates that competitive desire: "Talent doesn't get you everywhere but hard work gets you a long way."

She has opened a Pledge Sport account to accept donations which will take her to the European Masters Athletics 2019.

"I was the Deaflympics GB captain and I'd love to show all athletes it doesn't matter if you have a disability."
