NEW community events organised by volunteers across Allerdale have been handed a funding boost.
Allerdale Council support a number of projects throughout the year through the small events grant fund.
Groups can apply for up to £2,000 to help run their event. Money must help enhance the arts and cultural offering the the borough.
Silloth Pride which will be held next Saturday, has been given £1,500 and the China Cultural event in Greta Hall, Keswick was awarded £1,000.
Two grants of £500 were given to Greysouthern Village Hall Film Festival and Festival of Choirs event organised by Carnegie Singers in Workington.
Allerdale Council’s Mark Jenkinson, said: Events run by volunteers are the lifeblood of many of our communities in Allerdale.
“It’s great to be able to support such events as a council.”
