TOWN councillors agreed to pay for a television licence for Cockermouth library, enabling users to watch the BBC online.
The library used to be run by the county council, who decided not to buy licences for smaller libraries.
At a recent meeting, councillors voted to buy a licence.
Councillor Andrew Semple said: "We want the library to be a real community asset."
