Founding members of the Theatre by the Lake board have stepped down from the board after 25 years of service.

Over 90 people attended the theatre's Lakeside Cafe Restaurant on Sunday August 18 to see Vicky Robinson MBE and Graham Lamont pass the torch to new chairman, Charles Carter and vice chair, Kate McLaughlin-Flynn.

Charles said: "Tonight was a real celebration of the commitment over the years to build the theatre and create such a treasured organisation. Graham and Vicky were key figures in the forming and upkeep of Theatre by the Lake after the disbanding of the Blue Box. The mobile theatre toured plays to towns and cities without a resident theatre.

As a regular visitor to Keswick it finally settled in the town in 1975.

For her work in local theatre, Vicky was awarded an MBE in 2014. Charles said: "I'm proud to be taking on the role of chair, it may be a daunting task to follow in Vicky and Graham's footsteps but Kate and I look forward to rising to the challenge and ensuring the future sustainability and success of the theatre."

Graham spoke of his evening being honored by long-serving staff, volunteers, friends and family: "We've had a wonderful night, it was fantastic to see friends old and new to reminisce about past times and to look forward the theatre's exciting future. We know it's in good hands.
