A disused former Aspatria hotel looks set to have a new lease of life.
The Grapes Hotel, on West Street, which is standing empty, is now the subject of a planning application, received by Allerdale Council.
Annika Properties Ltd, of Cockermouth, has applied to change the use of the former public house and convert the three-storey building into six apartments.
There will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units available if it gets the go-ahead.
The application states: “There is no demand for the continued community use, and genuine efforts have been made to market and sell the enterprise as a going concern.
“There are a number of other similar public bar facilities in the immediate area to serve the local population and community.”
The consultation on the plans finishes on February 10.
