Police have criticised motorists who are ignoring the speed limit on the M6 through the roadworks.
Over the last week, officers have been monitoring the stretch of roadworks near junction 41.
They have reported a number of drivers for doing speeds in excess of 90mph.
The restriction is in place while £2.5 million of work is being completed to replace the barrier in the central reservation, with the latest type of steel system which started on January 6.
Cumbria police have said the speeds are unacceptable and Sergeant Callum Young, said: “The 50mph speed limit is in place to protect those that are currently working on the M6 and we will take action against those that are ignoring the limit and putting other people’s lives at risk.
“Travelling at excessive speed through these limits is completely unacceptable.”
