WORKINGTON Library has launched a competition to celebrate Libraries Week.
The library based on Oxford street is staging the contest ahead of the event which takes place next month.
A spokeswoman for the library said: "The event will take place between the October 5 to 10, celebrating libraries and their vital role in the UK’s book culture.
"We are holding a competition and would like to find out what the library means to you."
The composition can be in the form of a poem or short essay with a maximum of 500 words.
It is open to adults and children with a prize for winner of each category.
Children will need to specify their age when they enter.
Other libraries across the region will be showcase holding events to celebrate the week and to encourage residents to sign up for a library card.
Workington Library had also celebrated Roald Dahl Day on Sunday.
