A 73-YEAR-OLD has denied a charge of sexual assault.
Joseph Patrick Mullen appeared before Carlisle Crown Court yesterday.
The charge relates to an alleged assault on February 3.
Mullen, of Wastwater Road in Whitehaven, was represented during the short court hearing by defence solicitor Judith McCullough.
It is estimated that the trial will last two days.
The trial is set to start on July 12.
Recorder Katherine Pierpoint told the defendant: "You have pleaded not guilty in respect of the allegation of sexual assault.
"There is going to be a trial on July 12."
Mullen was granted unconditional bail ahead of his trial.
He must next appear before Carlisle Crown Court on January 8 for a pre-trial hearing.
