It's been a sensational start to the summer so far although the sun really needs reminding to visit us more...

This week, we are looking for the “best beer gardens” in the area, and, as always, our readers answered the call. Here, in no particular order, are some of many recommendations for the best beer gardens in West Cumbria.

SETH'S BAR, COCKERMOUTH

An easy choice for residents of Cockermouth and the surrounding villages. Seth's Bar has a small but popular beer garden out the back. As serving cocktails is one of the pub's specialities, it attracts many visitors with special deals and well-priced gin nights.

Robert Green said: "An amazing place with an incredibly warm atmosphere that serves the finest ales, lagers and cocktails within Cockermouth, could not recommend highly enough."

Jo Goddard called it her "bar of choice... great beer, great cocktails and great atmosphere."

KOPPER'S, COCKERMOUTH

A new and up coming business at the old police station on Main Street, Kopper's is extremely popular among residents. It has an easily accessible and cosy beer garden great for days and nights.

Alison Shallcross said: "Great place. Lovely beer garden. Lively atmosphere, great music. Friendly bar staff. Highly recommend."

Jason Taff agreed with Alison, adding: "I recommend any visitors give Kopper's a go."

THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF COMMON PLEAS, WETHERSPOONS, KESWICK

Built around 1901 to house the magistrate's court, this venue is now a chain pub serving quality food.

With one of the biggest beer gardens in Keswick it is a popular choice for residents.

Reader Ray Usher said: "Wish we were back to normal but this is still my go to pub in Keswick."

MINERS ARMS, GUARD STREET, WORKINGTON

With five-star ratings across the board, this pub on Guard St is highly recommended by readers Terry Gibson and Raymond Mitchell.
