In today's gallery we took a look through our archives to chart the influence and impact of a homegrown business known the world over.

The history of the iconic Cumbria brand began in the 1940s when the business was started by, you guessed it, Eddie Stobart as an agricultural business in Cumbria.

His son, Edward Stobart Junior, started working for his father's contracting business delivering agricultural material in the region. The first truck bought by Eddie Stobart in 1960 was painted post-office red and Brunswick green with yellow lettering.

These colours were used for subsequent vehicles up to 1969. The company was incorporated as Eddie Stobart Ltd. on 23 November 1970 as a haulage firm, and Eddie Stobart controlled the organisation fully until 1973, when, at the age of 19, Edward Stobart took the place of CEO. In 1976, Eddie retired and Edward took full control of the road haulage business and the name Eddie Stobart Ltd in 1976, becoming Chairman.

The business eventually grew into the Stobart Group which was eventually sold for over £280m back in 2014.

Today the business operates over an estimated 2700 vehicles, with its headquarters further down the M6 in Warrington.

In today's set of pictures we take a look at the impact that the business itself had on home turf.

In a delightful gallery we see Eddie Stobart and Nora (centre) with their four children in 1968, alongside the recent social phenomenon that is Stobart Spotters!

Your eyes will unboubtedly be drawn to the thousands of fans of logistics company Eddie Stobart who gathered at Carlisle Airport for the two day event where they could get close to some of trucks back in 2013.

We also see heartwarming images such as that of employees at Eddie Stobart depot in Carlisle in 2014, cycling to raise money for a life changing operation for four year old Camren Haines.

And who can overlook the visit of then PM Gordon Brown to where the magic began, back in 2010?
