This week, we have asked our readers to pass on their advice on where the best sandwich/baguette shops are in north-west Cumbria.

We received numerous comments on the Times & Star Facebook page, with lots of recommendations for places across the area.

Residents have been eager to let us know their favourite.

In no particular order, here are the best places in the county to get a sandwich, as voted for by you, our readers.

1 JULIE’S SANDWICH SHOP, COCKERMOUTH

The store on Main Street was recommended by Chris Lewis.

Chris said: "The most filled and tastiest sandwiches ever, for a decent price.

"Always queued out of the door at lunch times."

Joyce Messenger added: “Never had better."

2 BUTTERFLIES, POW STREET, WORKINGTON

The cafe has been getting a number of rave reviews on Facebook for their sarnies.

One reader, Joseph Staple said: "Delicious freshly made salads, sandwiches, jacket potato's, and cakes and scones to die for, there is also always a special board menu of the day.

Another reader Callum Booker, said: "The cafe was busy but we were luckily able to get a seat

"Good selection of freshly made sandwiches, panini, toasties and jacket potatoes.

"The side salad is also excellent. The staff are very friendly and I would highly recommend."

3 SANDWICH MAN, JAMES STREET, WHITEHAVEN

A popular choice that is a hit among readers.

Marie Ferguson said: "Sandwich Man, can do nearly any concoction you ask for, as well as many other lunch ideas, best in town, very reasonably priced, also great staff, very welcoming and friendly."

Pauline Cullen posted: "Sandwich man, the only place to go, Billy Ferguson will make anything you want in your sarnie, the best."

Lyndsey Moffitt said: "Lovely food and lovely staff."

4 ALS KITCHEN DELI & SANDWICH BAR, HARRINGTON ROAD, WORKINGTON

The sandwich got has a number of good reviews on Facebook.

One customer said: "Definitely recommend the afternoon tea, very tasty and plenty of it. Delicious sandwiches."

Another said: "Would highly recommend to anyone. Great food, lovely service and good value. We’ll definitely be back."

5 ANNABELL'S TEA ROOM, SENHOUSE STREET, MARYPORT

Another cafe with good reviews on Tripadvisor.

One reviewer said: "Lovely pot of tea, proper bacon sandwich, Asked for it toasted no problem at all. Nice little tea room. Will call again soon."
