DUE to the unusual weather patterns for the time of year, another thunderstorm warning has been issued today.

Allerdale Borough Council issued a statement online warning about the potential risks.

A spokesperson from the Council said: "The heavy showers and thunderstorms have the potential to bring surface water flooding in a few places, and disruption to travel, forecasters say.

"The warning covers almost all of Cumbria."

It is said that the thunderstorm may hit between 11am and 8pm tomorrow.

A yellow level warning has been issued by the Met Office.

Businesses and vulnerable homeowners in the area are urged to take the necessary precautions to stop flooding.

The sudden flooding may in some cases lead to road closures and difficult driving conditions.

Train and bus services may also be affected due to the threat of lightning strikes.

Because of this people living in more rural areas may be temporarily cut off.

As is expected it may be sensible to avoid outdoor activities and if you do need to drive, do so with extra care.
