A fitness centre stepped in to offer its support after another storm struck the country.

Xtreme Fitness, based in Workington, said that it would be able to step in to offer it's support in anticipation of people facing power cuts as Storm Barra hit Cumbria.

The fitness centre took to social media to say that it was willing to offer the use of its showers to anyone in the area who had been left without power as a result of the storm.

A spokesperson fro Xtreme Fitness said on social media: "If you are without power and need a shower please feel free to come and use the showers in the gym until the power comes back on.

"We also have the cafe open 7am-3pm if you wanted to grab a coffee or food and charge your mobile phones or laptops."

Following the disruption left by Storm Arwen, Storm Barra brought with it more problems, leaving even more people up and down the country without power.

Weather warnings for snow, ice, rain and wind were issued as Storm Barra swept in from the Atlantic.
