WORKINGTON Town chairman Les Smallwood has stepped down from his position at the rugby club.
The decision was formally announced at the clubs recent AGM which took place earlier this month.
Director John Pleasants has taken over from the chairman for an interim period.
Mr Smallwoods resignation comes after an epic season at the club, which saw them be promote into the Championship for the 2022 season.
In a statement, a club spokesman said: "At the recent AGM Les Smallwood formally stepped down as chairman.
"Director John Pleasants will act as interim chair supported by the remaining directors.
"We are now actively talking to suitable candidates to join the board or support the managment team and in particular we would be very interested in speaking to individuals with a strong commercial or health and safety experience."
