Thirteen has become a lucky number for a local golf club.
The club in Maryport introduced 13 women to the game of golf during an open day at Penrith Golf Hub.
The ladies are learning the basics of golf in a fun and relaxed atmosphere under the guidance of professional Johnathan Graham.
The coaching sessions are designed to help new golfers improve their technique and to correct any bad habits the more established golfers might have picked up.
Providing basic knowledge and skills training needed to increase confidence on the course, Mr Graham has created a six-week interactive and informative way to provide the newbies with the perfect grounding to the game.
Lady Captain and organiser Lindsay Gray, said she hopes that the sessions will encourage more women to take up the game.
She said: “Encouraging more women and girls to play golf is high on the agenda for my captaincy. Not only is golf a great form of exercise it provides many mental health benefits too. I hope the relaxed atmosphere and the West Cumbrian welcome will grow the Ladies Section at Maryport Golf Club.”
