The 66-year-old is currently cycling 1,900 miles around England and Wales, following in the footsteps of well-known artists and painting the local scenery during each stop.

The former Wacaday host spent a week in Cumbria, documenting his visit on his social media pages.

Taking to his Facebook page, Mallett wrote: “Silloth is a lovely village on the edge of the Solway Firth. I visited Mrs Wilson's coffee shop (delightful) and the Big Man statue (amazing).

“It was nice to see Silloth getting in the Jubilee mood with decorations on the houses and I even saw a post box with jubilee knitted cover.

“The cycle ride through the ANOB is calming and easy. Wind at my back, I came to Abbeytown and the grade 1 listed Parish church which was a massive abbey before Henry VIII did his damage. A fire some years ago destroyed the roof and pews and it's been carefully and creatively restored.”
