ARMED Forces Day returned to Workington at the weekend- giving people a chance to celebrate the work that members of the Armed Forces from the area do to protect us all.
A parade was held through the town with thousands attending to show their support for service men and women across the county and throughout the country.
The parade made it's way from the town centre to the cenotaph in Vulcan Park where people paid respects to fallen soldiers, before attendee's moved onto a packed out Workington Legion for an afternoon of celebration and fun.
It was a day for both young and old with cadets attending , saying they felt inspired by being arond servicemen and women from their community.
Logan Hudson, 10, from the Sea Cadets Juniors said: "I think what everyone is doing here is a great thing, and to see al the soldiers here they really deserve this."
However, Logan said he has aspirations of a different career in truck-driving, but 'might change his mind yet'.
Chantelle Johnson, 15 said: "It's a great exerience for everyone , I have enjoyed going round the cenotaph and seeing all the different people who are there."
Royal Marine Commando veteran, Dave Cunnington recently moved to the are with his wife Rosemary, they attended the event and both thoroughly enjoyed the day.
He said: "I have just come back from Turkey having lived their for 15 years and this is the first kind of gathering like this that we have attended, it's been absolutely fantastic, we have been made to feel really welcome and the atmosphere is absolutely brilliant."
The event was organised by different members of the Royal British Legion, ladies section member Lesley Jackson said: "We had an absolutely fantastic day from start to finish.
"We had people there from everywhere , it was just a day full of celebration as well as raising a glass to fallen comrades."
The parade was attended by dignotaries such as the Mayor of Workington, councillors and MP Mark Jenkinson.
Mr Jenkinson said: "It was fantastic to see it back. To see the parade back in full - and all of those who turned out to support - was tremendous. And a great afternoon was had by all at the Legion."
