ALLONBY residents are being urged to come forward to help fight flooding in the seaside village.

The parish council is putting together an emergency plan for the town following large-scale flooding last year.

A call has gone out for anyone who could help form a community response team.

This would include a co-ordinator who could keep in touch on radio or telephone.

The council is looking for responders who could react to a situation on the ground and help around the village - checking on neighbours, handing out supplies or passing along information.

Anyone with 4X4 vehicles capable of traveling through floods or snow and anyone with a first aid certificate would be welcome.

Resident Linda Higham said there are parts of the village now that flood whenever there is rain and something needs to be done about it.

To volunteer contact the parish council at: info@allonby-pc.org.uk or send a message on Facebook.
