A WORKINGTON man has appeared before magistrates accused of shoplifting and robbing a supermarket worker.
Phillip Holm, 41, of Senhouse Street, appeared before Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court to face the two allegations. Both offences are said by prosecutors to have been committed on September 17.
The theft allegation relates to meat worth £90.75 from the Iceland store in Pow Street, Workington.
The robbery – involving the same food – is said to have involved a female victim and to have happened in a nearby alleyway.
Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on November 4. The defendant was granted bail but with conditions.
These include that he must have no contact with the alleged victim and nor must he enter the town’s Iceland supermarket.
He must also live and sleep each night at his current home address.
