A DRUNK woman who was “out of control” and shouting at door staff, was arrested after pushing a police officer who told her to go home.

Police were on duty in Workington at 2am on December 18 when they saw a “commotion” taking place between Charlotte Jackson, 27, and door staff at The Junction.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting, told Workington Magistrates’ Court that Jackson was shouting and swearing in the face of door staff.

Officers attempted to get her to leave the area but she would not. She was shouting and swearing in the officer’s face and was “confrontational”.

Ms Fee said she was warned she would be locked up for being drunk and disorderly but she continued with the behavior.

In a statement read to the court, the officer said she was “fearful” that Jackson would headbutt her so had pushed her away. The defendant had then pushed the police officer.

Jackson was escorted to the police vehicle and had kicked the car.

Ms Fee told the court that no injuries had been caused to the police officer and the push had just caused her to move backwards.

Jackson, of Lonsdale Street, Workington, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Mike Woolaghan, defending, said: “It was an unpleasant incident. This lady has expressed appropriate regret and remorse.

“She has no previous convictions, or ever been in trouble with police. It’s out of character. Alcohol played a part in the offending.

“She tells me the doorman has a problem with her. Police have intervened. She was out of control at that point.”

Jackson was fined £200 and must pay £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
