Planning for the coronation of King Charles III is underway.
Mayport Town Council has created a committee to look at what can be done to celebrate which will take place on Saturday, May 6.
Monday, May 8 will be a bank holiday.
Maryport mayor Peter Kendall said he wanted to work with schools as has been the case in the past when children have received souvenirs to mark state occasions.
Mr Kendall said he wanted to do something in the community to mark this historic occasion.
