A BOROUGH council are reminding residents that using offroad vehicles at a site in Workington is against the law - following 'multiple reports' the vehicles have been used at Oldside in the town.
Allerdale Borough Council has warned people that CCTV units are in operation, to protect the site that is home to many different kinds of wildlife, including the protected blue butterfly.
In a statement on social media, Allerdale Borough Council said: "We have received multiple reports that the Oldside site in Workington is currently being used by offroad vehicle drivers.

"We would like to remind residents that this activity is prohibited. The Oldside site is home to a variety of wild animals, such as the protected blue butterfly.
"Driving vehicles on the site is not only against the law, but it also disturbs the habitats of these animals.
"The site is also regularly used by dog walkers, ramblers and cyclists.
"There are currently CCTV units in operation on the site.
"Anyone caught driving quad/scrambler bikes on the site will be reported to Cumbria Police."
