Audiences in Keswick are in for a treat this April as Kitchen Zoo, one of the UK’s favourite family theatre companies, visits Theatre By The Lake.

They will be performing Hey Diddle Diddle, A Nursery Rhyme Cabaret.

Children aged 6 and under and their grown-ups are invited to Theatre By The Lake on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 April to enjoy a special show.

But this is no ordinary performance, as it is hosted and stars all your favourite nursery rhyme characters.

Bob Nicholson, co-founder of Kitchen Zoo and director of the show said: "We are thrilled to be visiting Theatre By The Lake with Hey Diddle Diddle over the Easter holidays. We have created it especially for young audiences and their grown ups.

"We hope everyone will enjoy seeing a new side to some well-known nursery rhyme characters."

With Nero (the cat who plays the fiddle) and Lazzo (the little dog who laughs) hosting, the pair bring together their nursery rhyme friends to share their own special stories and skills.

With appearances from the likes of the Hickory Dickory Flea Circus and the famous dare-devil egg Humpty Dumpty (in an Elvis costume) Hey Diddle Diddle is a fun-loving, music-filled adventure with your favourite characters as you’ve never seen them before.

Kitchen Zoo, who have created the production last year are excited to be returning to Theatre By The Lake after previous visits to the theatre.

Every performance of Hey Diddle Diddle is relaxed making it an ideal first theatre experience for younger children or a celebrating for those with additional needs.

As Hannah Goudie-Hunter, Kitchen Zoo co-founder and performer explains: "We want everyone to be able to enjoy our performances. Everyone is welcome and the space is relaxed. There is no pressure to keep quiet or sit still – it’s too exciting for that.

"We know taking younger children or those with disabilities to the theatre can seem daunting for parents and carers but we try to make it a magical event for everyone. We love to see and hear the excitement of the audience and we can’t wait to get on the road."

Hey Diddle Diddle is at Theatre By The Lake on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday, August 12 with performances at 11am and 2pm.
