Cockermouth Town Council will be flying the flags to celebrate the King's coronation.
They will stage a coronation picnic in Memorial Gardens on Sunday, May 7, between noon and 5pm.
Cockermouth Mechanics Band will play between 2pm to 4pm. There will be fair rides and concession stands.
At a meeting on Wednesday, members discussed if they were going to invest in some bunting to mark the coronation, which takes place on Saturday, May 6.
Cllr David Malloy said: "If we're going to make an effort then let's do it properly."
Mayor Andrew Semple said: "The feedback I get is that people really appreciate the town doing something to mark national occasions.
"In my lifetime there has only been a Queen, the King's coronation is a big event."
It was decided they would spend approximately £385 on Union Jack bunting to hang on both sides of Main Street and Station Street over the Bank Holiday weekend.
