Town councillors agreed Cockermouth allotment rents should increase by 10.1 per cent, in line with inflation.
The council leases land on Gote Road and St Helen's Street. Holders presently pay £46 a year.
The rent normally goes up by about 50p a year, councillors heard at a meeting this week. But with the rise in water charges and inflation it was agreed a 10.1 per cent increase should be introduced.
