A WOMAN became abusive to police after being arrested, calling them ‘scumbags’ and telling one officer she would “knock her out”.

The incident took place at Workington Police Station after Terri Donald, 37, had been arrested for drink-driving, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said officers were going through the procedure when the defendant became “particularly difficult” and “aggressive”.

She was asked if she would provide a sample and refused initially but then agreed.

Donald became “more and more aggressive” and referred to the officers as ‘scumbags’ and ‘paedophiles’.

She swung the door which struck the police officer, the court heard. The officer was able to stop the door with her hand.

Donald continued being “violent” and “aggressive”. Officers had to control her and she was taken to the floor.

A statement read to the court from the police officer, said: “Her behaviour was erratic and uncalled for. I found her aggressive and hostile.

“I don’t know if this is her usual behaviour or if she was trying to delay the procedure.”

Ms Fee said Donald made a threat to “knock the police officer out”. There was no procedure carried out due to her behaviour.

She was interviewed but made ‘no comment’ throughout.

Donald, of Inner Ling Road, Seaton, Workington, pleaded guilty on March 6 to assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The defendant, who was not legally represented, said: “I’m really disgusted by my behaviour that night and I’m very sorry that it happened at all.”

Donald was given a 12-month community order with 180 hours of unpaid work. She must complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
