A charity set up by a Cockermouth couple is hoping people will support them by running the world's biggest half marathon.

Team Evie was set up by Greg and Jill Johnston following the death of their first daughter, Evie, who died aged six months in September 2015.

The charity’s work is split into three main areas: supporting sick children and their families in hospital, in the community and with bereavement support.

They have secured fundraising places in the Great North Run and are hoping people will sign up to support them.

"Our places in the Great North Run 2023 are now available to purchase and we would love to have you in the team," said Greg.

"The world-famous run from Newcastle to South Shields attracts thousands of people every year to take part and is one of the most important fundraisers for many charities, including us, each year."

The charity asks that runners each raise a minimum of £350.

"We will provide you with a vest or t-shirt to run in for the event as part of your sign up, and be there to cheer you on on the day," said Greg.
