This week our Trader of the Week is White and Green in Cockermouth.

The store has been open for 13 years now and has proved a popular feature on the Lake District town's high street.

White and Green sells an assortment of household and garden items and has built up quite a strong customer base of residents and visitors to Cockermouth in the years that it has been open.

Sonja Tilleard, the owner of the shop, said: "White and Green has been going for thirteen years now.

"The first thing is that I am a stockist for Farrow & Ball Paint and I provide technical and colour advice for people decorating.

"Then it's just a mixture of accessories for the home and the garden, the most popular item that I sell would be Farrow & Ball paint and then following on from that it's things like cushions, lamps, and that sort of things like home accessories.

"Another popular item that I sell is Emma Bridgewater china.

"The store caters to both older and younger people and covers a really good cross-section actually and it is a good mix between locals and visitors as well. But we primarily service a local customer base with paint and accessories for the home.

"The store is quite popular in Cockermouth, it's been good.

"Again, I'm really fortunate to be in a town like Cockermouth where we've got really good local support in our shops so I benefit from that really.

"I decided to set up the shop 13 years ago because I wanted to leave the job I was in before, which was children's services, and I just looked at it as something I fancied doing.

"There was a gap in the market, initially I opened my first shop in Penrith and a year later opened the shop in Cockermouth.

"I've since sold the one in Penrith years ago but have kept the one in Cockermouth going."
