MARYPORT Rescue have paid tribute to 'one of their own' following their passing at Ennerdale this weekend.
Police confirmed that the body of a man that was found on Sunday, April 23 in the area of Ennerdale Bridge and Ennerdale Water, was identified as Neil Marland, a volunteer with the rescue service today (April, 26).
In a post on social media, a spokesperson from Maryport Rescue said: "With heavy hearts, the team have been informed of the passing of one of our own, Mr Neil Marland.

"Over the past couple of years, Neil has been a keen volunteer of Maryport Rescue and has been involved in a multitude of ways, from being part of the active team, supporting and driving fundraising activities along with maintenance and everything in between, he was instrumental in being a key part of the organisation and helped promote its existence through more ways than one.
"Our condolences, thoughts and well wishes are with those of Neil’s families, he will be dearly missed by many.
"Stand down Neil, your duty is done. Fair winds and following seas," they said.
