Town councillors agreed to put more focus on climate change issues by having them on their monthly meeting agendas.
Cockermouth town council set up its Climate Change Action group June 2019. Since then the sub group has met quarterly and tackled a range of issues.
Cllr Richard Watson called for climate issues to be added as a standing item on future agendas of the monthly meetings.
"Every month we could bring something forward under that heading, tackling climate change and biodiversity," he said.
"That might speed things up. At the moment issues are discussed quarterly which slows the process down, when we do not have that time."
He suggested that members could raise a range of related issues. "I'm sure between us we can come up with items every month," he said.
It was agreed that Climate Emergency Action be disbanded and added as a standing item to future council agendas, incorporating its duties into those of the council.
